5 fun hacks for learning Spanish

January 23, 2017 Carla Jones

Whether you need Spanish for work, for your studies, for travelling or just because you like the sound of it, it's important that language learning becomes a joy rather than a chore.  By making Spanish part of your daily activities you will be surprised at how much you can learn!

Here are five Spanish learning hacks that sound too good to be true but are effective and fun.

1. Watch movies or TV shows in Spanish

Try to watch your favourite genre of TV shows in Spanish and of course, with Youtube and Netflix anything is possible.

*Fun fact: Did you know that a lot of people have learned Spanish by only watching Spanish TV commercials and the infamous Telenovelas (very well-known Latin American soaps).

2. Put Spanish subtitles on your TV or computer

Being able to read the words whilst also hearing them will help you to gradually familiarize yourself with certain phrases. This is great for your pronunciation!

3. Write your shopping list or diary in Spanish

The diary doesn’t have to be perfect. It can contain the words or phrases you have learnt or heard. Even better, you could try to use a Spanish dictionary to write down your daily activities.

Writing your shopping list in Spanish will really stimulate those brain cells and by writing familiar words regularly you'll quickly will retain the new vocabulary.

4. Label the objects in your house

Seeing post its around the objects in your house on a daily basis, will not only help you to enrich your vocabulary but it will help you to actually remember them.

5. Make your smart phone Spanish

Our phone is probably the device we look at the most, sometimes for hours. Change the language to Spanish and you will notice how quickly you begin to grasp new words.

Now that you have these hacks, you know there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. These five points will immerse you in a simple and pleasant way of learning this beautiful language. It’s never too late to learn a language.

Vamos, go ahead and try it!
